Cotherstone is a delightful village situated where the River Balder joins the River Tees 4 miles from Barnard Castle. It is a thriving village with a general store and two pubs one of which serves meals.
The farmhouse and adjoining barns have been converted to form seven splendid cottages one of which is occupied by the owners Ann and Peter Wilson. Constructed entirely of local sandstone, the buildings retain many original features typical of the farms of the North Pennines, with some open fireplaces, beamed ceilings and original stonework. The cottages have accommodation of a high quality, heated by adjustable electric storage heating with supplementary gas or open fires. There is a large garden area and ample parking space. Visitors are free to wander over the 13 acres of adjoining fields, woods and riverside. There is approximately 1/4 mile of free trout fishing for guests on the River Balder. Pets (2 maximum in each cottage) are welcome to Studio and Barn Cottages, provided dogs are kept on a lead at all times outside the cottages except in the field set aside for pets exercise.
Lying within easy reach of the whole of the North of England, East Briscoe makes an ideal base from which to walk, cycle or tour this beautiful region. Burnbrae is a spacious detached stone built cottage dating from 1895 situated very close to the shops, inns, restaurant and market square. The cottage is set back from the main street with its own lawned garden and off street parking.
St. John's Chaple is a pleasant village with a small market square, well served by its half dozen shops, three pubs and two churches. There is a regular bus service to Alston and Stanhope.
St. John's Chaple is situated on the A689 Alston to Stanhope road. The house is located 20 metres off the main road, down a driveway, behind the newsagent. Brunbrae is in the centre of the village as the main road passes over and old stone bridge.

We have Beamish Museum, Killhope Wheel and many other museums well worth a visit. On top of all this the countryside is especially attractive for walking and cycling. The local supermarkets re within a three-miles radius...They offer the best quality food and wine needed for the preparation of meals...However there are many pubs and hotels in the neighbourhood that provide excellent fare...some at surprisingly reasonable rates. There is plenty of safe parking space in the farmyard.

Five Gables is a Victorian miner's cottage with country views built circa 1860, opposite the owners' guest house. Completely re-furbished with facilities and equipment for five guests to sleep in two bedrooms. Lawn, gardens and parking to rear. A footpath leads to the woods and Auckland Path, useful for exercising dogs and their owners.
The cottage is some fifteen minutes from Durham, two hours from York or the Lake District, an hour and a half from the Scottish Borders and three hours from Edinburgh.
It is an ideal centre for Durham World Heritage Site, the Dales, sea-side, North Yorkshire and Northumbria. There are several golf courses in the area, as well as a number of pubs who serve good and reasonably priced food.

Our Red Brick Barn is located on a hillside in the beautiful, unspoilt "North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty", and just outside the tiny village of Rookhope.
The Barn is situated close to our home within 7 acres of farmland which you can freely roam. We have hens, ducks and geese and so eggs are plentiful. We can provide meals and packed lunches although the barn has a fully equipped kitchen. A laundry service is available.
There are many public footpaths on our doorstep along with plenty of other activities or you may wish to just relax and enjoy the peace away from the usual hectic routines.

Whitfield House Cottage is a two story attachment to Whitfield House which is a most attractive Queen Anne House. Both properties are listed as "buildings of special architectural and historic interest".
Wolsingham is a small country town situated in the lower part of Weardale, which is one of the north Pennine dales and has been designated an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty".
Whitfield House is situated in the part of the town designated as a "Conservation Area" and it is conveniently placed for the town's shops and for walks in the local countryside. Facilities for fishing, golf, swimming and pony trekking are available in the locality.
