Dorset Coast Cottages

2, Vine Cottage
This is a luxurious and spacious grade II listed cottage in Studland village, in the glorious Isle of Purbeck. The area is now designated as a World Heritage Site. The thatched 200 year old cottage has beamed bedrooms and living room. It is very well equipped and comfortable.

The cottage is located in a quiet road in this charming village - close to the centre. There is a general store/post office and one pub. A hotel overlooking the sea is just 5 minutes from the safe and sandy beach, which stretches two miles to Shell Bay and the Sandbanks Ferry to the mainland.

Close by is wonderful walking country along the South West Coast Path and Dorset's extensive heathland. Facilities for golf 1 mile away, sailing and horse-riding nearby.

Appletrees
Appletrees is a delightful Georgian Terraced Cottage, one of a picturesque row close to the Church and overlooking a quiet square. One of the best locations in Lyme; there is a choice of 2 totally different beaches - one famous for fossils, each only 2/3 mins. walk.

There are shops just "around the corner". The Cottage is furnished and equipped to the highest standard earning it an English Tourism Council 4 Star Rating and has a separate boathouse annexe which is ideal for teenagers or grandparents. Non-smokers preferred.

Lyme Regis is a lovely little town with something for everyone. Apart from the attractions of beach, harbour, pubs, cliff-top rambles and golf-course, the town itself is full of picturesque buildings and little alleyways. Close to "Appletrees" runs the river, on its way through the town. Here you will meet Lyme's other residents - ducks!

Broomhill Farmhouse
Broomhill Farmhouse is a Grade II listed 16th century building consisting of the main house (thatched) and the annexe close by which is suitable for parents/grandparents.

The farmhouse is situated behind the owner's plant nursery in 80 acres which you are free to roam and enjoy. The market town of Bridport is within level walking distance.

Local places of interest include Dorchester (County town), Weymouth (great sandy beach), Abbotsbury Swannery, Chesil Beach and many more.


Coast Path Cottage
Ringstead is an attractive small hamlet on the coast about 7 miles from Weymouth & Dorchester. On the Dorset heritage coast, it is designated an area of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty' and 'Special Scientific Interest' and has now become a new World Heritage Site, much of the cliff & farmland is owned by the National Trust.

Coast Path Cottage is 100 yds from the sea at the entrance to the small, private Creek Caravan Site. It's a curious wooden bungalow dating from the 1920's, providing fully equipped comfortable accommodation for up to 9 adults and children. There is also a pleasant, and sheltered, paved patio which often becomes a real sun-trap for barbecues and outdoor breakfasts etc.

Ringstead is a truly magical spot and is ideally placed for exploring the very best of Dorset.

Coastguards Return
Coastguards Return has been recently renovated and refurbised to provide comfortable and attractive accommodation for four plus a baby.

The two bedroom self-contained cottage adjoins the owners home and is part of a row of six old coastguard houses, situated in the Durlston area of Swanage.

The surrounding area is an ideal location for family seaside holidays, exploring, walking, sailing, fishing, rock climbing, riding, bird watching and much more. Although the town centre and beach are nearby, the cottage is adjacent to the coast path and Durlston Country Park.

Flat 2, Chestnut Court
This modern comfortable first floor flat is situated in a quiet road in the picturesque village of West Lulworth. It has lovely rural views, a garage to the rear and further parking available in the lane. The communal garden is pleasant to sit in.

There are two bedrooms, a double and a twin and a folding bed to accommodate a family of 5. The kitchen has just been replaced and includes a washer/dryer and dishwasher. The bathroom has a bath and electric shower.

The lounge is bright and comfortably furnished with a new TV/video and a radio/cd player.

The flat is under a mile from the lovely Lulworth Cove. The coastline is stunning, a walkers paradise, and there are numerous other attractions in the area.

A short walk away is the excellent Castle Inn which has a restaurant and serves bar meals. There is a small stores in the village and further restaurants at the Cove.

Haye Farm Holiday Cottages
These 4 stone cottage apartments, tastefully converted from redundant farm buildings, on a small working farm, are on the edge of the historic harbour town of Lyme Regis. They have been furnished to a very high standard and have been awarded an ETB 4 star rating.

The farm is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, off the road on the side of the Lym Valley. With spectacular views over the hills/ woodlands it is a haven for wildlife. Although quiet and peaceful it is an easy drive, or lovely 20 minute walk, into the town with its fine pubs, shops and restaurants. There are many outstanding walks from the doorstep and water sports, golf and riding are all available nearby.

Meadow Cottage
2 Properties - Meadow Cottage which sleeps 10 is stone and thatch and several hundred years old. The Studio which sleeps 2+2 is a converted barn adjacent to Meadow Cottage. The Studio can be let separately or together with Meadow Cottage. Abbotsbury is a coastal village in West Dorset on Chesil Beach, midway between Weymouth and Bridport.

The Cottage and Studio are ideal for family reunions or for two families holidaying together. It's a great starting point for walks along the Dorset coastal path and for beach-fishing for mackerel. The south-facing, terraced garden has views to the sea from a swing-seat and the coastal micro-climate is warm enough for figs and apricots to grow.

Things to see: the swannery (a must), which has been in the village since medieval monks kept swans for the table; 21 acres of sub-tropical gardens and a children's petting farm by the village pond and old tithe barn. You can walk to these, and to the massive sweep of shingle beach. 15 mins drive is a sandy/shingle beach at Burton Bradstock. No 3, Exeter Road
No 3 has been completely modernised and refurbished. The terraced late Victorian house is deceptively spacious and provides an extremely comfortable place for families or groups to stay.

With the beach and town centre only a minute or two away, the house is very convenient for all amenities. The Downs, Durlston Country Park, the coast, Victorian pier and steam railway are all nearby.

Norchard Barn
Norchard is on a lane that has no through traffic. Surrounded by 2000 acres of National Trust estate with 20 miles of footpaths, it commands a beautiful view across fields to the Golden Cap, the highest hill on the Channel. The sea is half a mile away and the coast is unspoilt.

Bathing and walking are there for on your doorstep. Riding is easily available. Lyme Regis, 6 miles to the west, offers sea excursions in summer as does West bay, 6 miles to the west, where there are two very good fish restaurants. Bridport, ten minutes away to the east by car, is a charming small town where again there are excellent places to eat.

Dorset is famous as the setting of Hardy's novels. West Dorset, where Norchard is, and the neighbouring parts of Somerset and Devon are outstandingly beautiful. They are all so rich in churches and houses open to the public. The villages are attractive and the pubs notably good.

Orchard Cottage
This pretty semi-detached stone cottage is one of three buildings clustered around a georgian rectory, in a small enclave a short distance from the A354 in the village of Broadwey, just 3 miles outside Weymouth.

Orchard Cottage has been newly refurbished to a very high standard, with great attention to detail many original features have been retained and enhanced. All rooms are freshly decorated, and both kitchen and bathroom re-fitted, lime stone tiling throughout, the ground floor adds to the bright welcoming feel of the cottage.

An elevated terrace off the lounge overlooking the garden which is ideal for outdoor dining.

Sunset
A modern detached south west facing spacious bungalow situated between the historic market town of Bridport, West Bay Harbour with its beaches, Chesil Beach and the Dorset Coastal Path; just a 10 min walk from the Jurassic Coast - Englands first natural World Heritage Site.

The accommodation consists of a good sized lounge/diner, 2 bedrooms both with vanity unit and toilet (1 Double & 1 Twin), bathroom which includes an over bath power shower, kitchen/breakfast room, utility room including washing machine and tumble dryer. All rooms have thermostatically controlled radiators. Outside parking for 2 cars, small rear garden (a nice sun trap) and front garden.

Bridport is a 10-12 min level walk and the sea an 8-10 min level walk, the bungalow is an ideal base from which to explore Dorset, East Devon and South Somerset.

The Cottage

The Flat,The Creek
This comfortable flat, which is fully self contained, is on the ground floor of the older part of the owner's house. The house stands North/South with the views to the North looking over National Trust farm land. Views to the South, where all the principal rooms are, look over the sea to Portland and beyond.

The garden, which is mostly to the South of the house, is approximately 1.5 acres and at the end of it there is a path that leads directly to the beach. The flat has a large patio and the guests are welcome to use the owner's swimming pool.

The Hunting Lodge

The Orchard
The Orchard is very early C18, detached, and with furniture in keeping. Ground floor consists of entrance hall, a very spacious sitting room with beams and large inglenook fireplace (original bread oven in wall), doors lead onto vine covered terrace and the garden.

Off the hallis the bathroom, dining room (also opening onto terrace), which leads to the kitchen. A stable type doors opens to garden.

The property is situated about 400 feet above sea level with uninterrupted views over National Trust land to the sea at Seacombe Bay (a 15-20 min walk). From the stile near the house the Priest's Way (footpath) leads to the seaside town and blue flag beaches of Swanage and to the walks down to the South West Coast Path and the sea.

Worth Matravers is a pretty Purbeck stone village located about 4 miles South of Corfe Castle and about 3 miles West of Swanage, set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and overlooking the World Heritage stretch of coastline. The area is popular with walkers, nature lovers, fisherman and cyclists. Worth Matravers also has a tea shop,craft shop with restaurant and a popular unspoilt Pub.

The White House
Ringstead Bay is scheduled as a place of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the eastern part of Ringstead belongs to the National Trust. The bay stretches for about two miles from White Nothe in the east to Bran Point in the west.

The White House stands in over an acre of private land set back from the cliff. Hedges around the garden provide shelter and privacy.

The beach consists of various grades of shingle. After storms and very high tides, areas of coarse sand are sometimes exposed. Except in rough weather, bathing is perfectly safe and the beach is ideal for launching small boats. The reefs, which appear at low tide, are good for shrimping.

Ringstead has its own rather unique and tranquil amenities but there is a whole range of traditional seaside opportunities at Weymouth if those are desired. Dorchester has a fine museum and visits to Maiden Castle, the Tank Museum at Bovington and some beautiful country houses and gardens are all worthwhile excursions.

Tot Cottage
A listed stone cottage at the seaward end of a short terrace, built in 1862, 50 yards from famous Chesil Beach perfect for two couples. Ideally situated for lovely walks, bird watching, sailing and other water sports in the harbour, beach fishing, Chesil Cove is a well known dive site, or just a chance to relax and watch gulls go by. Portland is wonderful in spring and summer and our wood burning stove ensures comfortable evenings in autumn and winter.

The cottage has a small rear yard and a large walled encloshire for sunbathing and parking if necessary (parking is usually available close by) Portland has many restaurants and take-aways and our local has stunning views across Lyme Bay.


Vearse Farm Cottage
Vearse Farm Cottage is set in 150 acres of farmland which visitors are free to roam.

The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped with its own private garden. No roads can be seen from the property.

Vearse Farmhouse
The main property on the farm and formally the residence of the major local landowner.

Set in 150 acres of farmland which you are free to roam, with a private walled garden of approximately 1/3 acre. No roads are within sight of the property.

Villa Belle Vue
Walk to the beach and white cliffs of beautiful Lulworth Cove (10-15 mins). This Spanish style house lies in the picturesque thatched village of Lulworth Cove.

The house is spacious, well equipped and sleeps up to 14 people comfortably. There are beautiful views from the balcony, with countryside and clifftop walks from the doorstep. Boat trips and swimming at Lulworth Cove 1/2 mile, Man of War bay 1/2 mile and Durdle Door beach. Horse riding 1 mile. Mountain bike hire is available at Durdle Door holiday park (Belair luxury caravan).

Wheatsheaf Cottage
Set at the head of the Asker valley beneath the Iron Age hill fort of Eggardon Hill lies the unspoilt and picturesque village of Askerswell. For over three centuries Court Farm has stood alongside the parish church.

The accommodation was created by the conversion of a Grade II Listed, stone built barn into luxury cottages.

Askerswell is ideally situated just three miles from the beautiful Dorset coast. The rolling Dorset hill and coastal paths are perfect for walking and touring, providing outstanding views of the countryside.

The four charming cottages share a large lawned garden with picnic tables and a barbecue, there is a gamesroom and a communal laundrette.

White Shutters
White Shutters is a spacious detached house, located a few minutes walk from the beach. The house has been modernised and renovated to provide well appointed, comfortable accomodation for 6 + baby.

Close by are recreational facilities, including a park, pub and restaurants. The town centre is a short walk away.
