3 Properties - Midtodhills Farm self-catering cottages overlook the beautiful Lyne Valley and the Bewcastle Fells close to the borders of Cumbria, Northumberland and Scotland.

There are farm trails, 2 miles of river and a guided tour for children. Explore the lovely walks which start from your doorstep. Other outdoor activities available include fishing, pony trekking and the hire of mountain bikes.

Discover England's border country, a wild wonderland of moors, Tarns, lochs, wooded river valleys and rich pastureland. Wildlife abounds with peace and quiet for all who seek it. This is an exciting area for the heritage enthusiast with Roman sites and world famous Hadrian’s wall, Lanercost Priory, Hexham Abbey, Gretna Green, Carlisle, Naworth and Hermitage Castle. The historic city of Carlisle, with its gem of a Cathedral, has the excellent Lanes shopping Centre visit Gretna Greens new outlet village and Sunday market.
Whether walking, golf, fishing, bird watching, cycling or gently touring our quiet roads, you will find that this area has so much to offer. Lots of country inns, market towns, woollen and tweed mills and most important of all, friendly people. Kielder Water is on our doorstep offering many water activities and magnificent surrounding forests.

Barn Close Cottage
Situated mid-way between Gretna Green and Hadrians Wall, these are three superior and tastefully converted courtyard cottages enjoying extensive views over non-intensive farmland.

They provide an ideal location for walking, fishing, cycling, bird watching, riding and touring.

These cottages are well furnished, spacious, warm and welcoming. Guests may awaken to bird song, swim in the pool, meander through the meadows, picnic by the tiny stream, dine in the farm restaurant - simply unwind. Indoor heated swimming pool mid May - mid September.


Barn Cottage
2 Cottages - A 200 year old stone built Border Farm which has been completely modernised without losing its essential character providing two cottages.

The cottages are centrally heated, fully carpeted, very well equipped and furnished. There is a utility room for use by all at a nominal charge. They are situated in a peaceful location surrounded by wildlife and stand above the river with extensive views of Bewcastle Fells and Kershop Forest.

Dovecote
Dovecote is a farm cottage with an admirable blend of all "mod. con's" and traditional charm.

It is situated amongst Cleughside's own 8 1/2 acres of farmland, with a duck pond and woodland. We also keep rare breed sheep which you are sometimes able to help with.

Beyond our gate, you can walk Hadrian's Wall, or tour on our quiet roads into Cumbria and Scottish Borderlands. Visit coastlines or relax by our famous lakes.

Visit our Border City of Carlisle with its Castle, Cathedral and Museum. Or just browse through The Lanes Shopping Centre. Or just enjoy a meal. Enjoy water sports, riding, cycling, golf or perhaps even marrying at the world famous Gretna Green. Everything is near-by.

The Nook
The Nook is a small lakeland stone cottage (circa 1880) situated in Greystoke, a quiet picturesque village near Penrith.

It is ideal for exploring the less busy northern fells and lakes. Blencathra and Ullswater are within half an hour and there is easy access to the Eden valley and the Pennines. Greystoke enjoys the reputation of the best kept large village in Cumbria and it is on the popular Coast to Coast (C2C) cycle route.

Also the Nook has a has wooden beams and the original open range which give the cottage real character.

Central heating from January 2004.
