Braithwaite is a pretty Lakeland village in the North Lakes tucked between Grisedale Pike and Skiddaw where the unspoilt Newlands Dale joins the Valley of Derwent. The cottage stands in a row of old stone cottages at the side of the Coledale Beck.
Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwent are within 5 minutes and the Valleys of Borrowdale, Buttermere and the Whinlatter Forest are close by.

The three Pine Lodges, Barn Garth, Field End and Wood Bank, share the acre of orchard with the ancient apple trees and the stream that opens out to the raft pool and with Beckfoot Cottage. What could be nicer than to sit out on the veranda with a gin and tonic and watch the world go by. All three face South and the orchard is a natural suntrap.
Fisherground is a children's Paradise, with a shallow raft pool in the orchard, and another at the Adventure Playground, a hundred yards away.

All cottages have central heating and are Tourist Board Inspected to 3-4 star and have a large garden area. Meals are available in our main dining room and we hold a residential licence. A half board package is also available on request. |

2 Cottages - Exceptionally clean quality self-catering holiday accommodation in the rural hamlet of Redmain, 3 miles from Cockermouth, Cumbria.
Occupies a peaceful rural hamlet three miles from the pleasant market town of Cockermouth and ten miles from both Keswick and the Solway Coast with it's long sandy beaches and bracing walks. Windermere and Ambleside are less than one hours drive away.
Pooley House dates from the 1690s and is a traditional Cumbrian long house with attached stone barns from which the holiday cottages have been converted to a very high standard, whilst retaining many original features.
HUDDLESTONE COTTAGE sleeps from 1 to 4 people plus a baby. Can be hired at a reduced rate for a couple. THE HAYLOFT sleeps from 1 to 2 people plus a baby.

There is a charge of £15 per dog per week, max of 2 dogs. Dogs must remain with owners at all times. Dogs not allowed on furniture or in bedrooms or to foul in the garden (if so owners must scoop the poop).

| The Old Chapel |

The cottage is situated in the tiny hamlet of Knock which is 20 minutes drive to the M6 at Penrith, 30 minutes to Ullswater in the heart of lakeland, and 10 minutes to the historic town of Appleby. Knock lies at the foot of the Pennines and the Pennine Way passes within half a mile of the cottage. There is a traditional pub serving good local fare one mile down the road and a post office/grocery shop in walking distance.
The cottage overall is well heated in winter and the lounge is warmed by a log burning fire. This spacious converted chapel makes an excellent base for walkers and for touring the Lakes and Pennines.
If the booking is for a group of young people a £100 returnable deposit will be required.

This flat is set on a working farm where poultry and animals can be seen all around. There are also plenty of ducks that enjoy being fed! The farm house is beautifully situated, tucked under the fell with a beck in front of it. It has appeared as a typical Lakeland farm in various books.
Dippers often nest under the bridge over the beck and herons are to be seen in the valley. Kingfishers have recently returned. The owners have established a lot of new woodland, much of it is oak and beech as well as Christmas trees and beautiful larches.
The flat has been converted from the old hayloft. It is modern inside, double-glazed and cosy. The basic accommodation is for 4 people. There is ample car parking in the farm yard for two cars. The farm is located approximatly 6 miles (9.6 km) from Keswick where there are a good selection of shops, banks etc. The nearest Post Office is two miles (3.2 km) away. The bus stop is about a mile (1.6 km) down the public footpath. There is a regular bus service (the '555') that connects the north of the Lake District to the south.

The popular town of Keswick has many attractions including tropical leisure swimming pool, motor museum, theatre and parks as well as shops, pubs and restaurants. With Derwent Water, Thirlmere and Bassenthwaite lakes close by this is a great holiday base, whatever time of year.

Superb walking direct from the cottage to the lakes and fells or through the Thornthwaite Forest, with its nesting ospreys, to the Whinlatter Visitor Centre and the fells beyond. The renowned Thornthwaite gallery and tea shop is just 200 yards away.
The Orchard is a detached property, at the foot of the fells in the centre of Braithwaite village, but in a peaceful situation. It has a garden with lawns, flowerbeds and its own beck. The village shop is just 100 yards away and there are three pubs/hotels with good eating in easy walking distance. Lovely views. |

1 Cottage & 3 Lodges - Fellside Cottage and Beckfoot Cottage are situated on Fisherground Farm. Both face South and have lovely areas to sit out and enjoy the sun, and of course you can park right beside your cottage. Even in the depths of winter the cottages are warm and snug, with an open fire in Eskdale granite fireplaces, and electric panel heaters throughout. Both cottages share the laundry, sports hall, games room and adventure playground with the Pine Lodges.
The three Pine Lodges, Barn Garth, Field End and Wood Bank, share the acre of orchard with the ancient apple trees and the stream that opens out to the raft pool and with Beckfoot Cottage. What could be nicer than to sit out on the veranda with a gin and tonic and watch the world go by. All three face South and the orchard is a natural suntrap.
Fisherground is a children's Paradise, with a shallow raft pool in the orchard, and another at the Adventure Playground, a hundred yards away.

The cottage has it's own small private garden within the grounds of Woodlands Country House. The hotel dining room and bar are available to guests if required.
Woodlands is an excellent base from which to explore the Lakes, be it a gentle stroll up Binsey Fell or a more strenuous ascent of Skiddaw, the third highest peak in the Lake District. In addition to good local walking, there are many cycling routes , from easy going, quiet country lanes to strenuous rides up rocky fellsides!
